[...] Dinosaur Eyelids new album, “Down A River” is a full length album with 14 songs. The album is chock full of distortion and in your face vocals and drums. “Maelstrom of Malevolence” is the first track on the album and, like a lot of the album, has a 70’s Black Sabbath feel with Evan Staats’ vocals sounding like a mix of Kurt Cobain and Chris Cornell (Cornell’s Soundgarden days of course). “Show Me Your Way Out” is smooth with a sneaky grunge feel and sounds very clean. “Paranoid Schizophrenia” has fantastic lyrical lines and an awesome breakdown toward the end of the song with a mix of Patrick McKnight’s lead guitar (minus distortion) fading in and out. “Across The Sea” is a slower song. Dan Fishtein’s drums and Scott Staats’ bass really stand out in this song. “Across The Sea” also showcases Evan Staats’ vocal ability. This song has a slight Tom Petty feel to it which I really like.
